〜最中に

会議(かいぎ)の最中(さいちゅう)に電話(でんわ)が鳴(な)りました。

Kaigi no saichū ni denwa ga narimashita.

The phone rang right in the middle of the meeting.

最中に is being interrupted at the height of it — more vivid than 間に

食事(しょくじ)の最中(さいちゅう)に失礼(しつれい)します。

Shokuji no saichū ni shitsurei shimasu.

Forgive me for interrupting your meal.

How you apologise before cutting in

話(はな)している最中(さいちゅう)に口(くち)を挟(はさ)まないでください。

Hanashite iru saichū ni kuchi o hasamanaide kudasai.

Please do not cut in while I am speaking.

It is firm, and carries the annoyance of being cut off
