日本(にっぽん)に来(き)てから三(さん)年(ねん)になります。

Nihon ni kite kara sannen ni narimasu.

It has been three years since I came to Japan.

The てから of sequence from N5 here counts the time since a starting point

社会(しゃかい)人(じん)になってから、時間(じかん)の大切(たいせつ)さが分(わ)かりました。

Shakaijin ni natte kara, jikan no taisetsusa ga wakarimashita.

Since starting work I have understood what time is worth.

A noun plus から marks a starting point too — てから is not required
