三年ぶりに故郷へ帰りました。

Sannen buri ni furusato e kaerimashita.

I went home for the first time in three years.

On a time span it means after that long — extremely common

お久しぶりです。

Ohisashiburi desu.

Long time no see.

The commonest of greetings, and it comes from ぶり

動詞に付くと やり方 の意味になります。

Dōshi ni tsuku to yarikata no imi ni narimasu.

On a verb it means the manner of doing.

話しぶり is a way of speaking — a wholly different sense
