〜かたがた

お礼(れい)かたがた、ご挨拶(あいさつ)に伺(うかが)いました。

Orei kata gata, goaisatsu ni ukagaimashita.

I have come to thank you and pay my respects.

かたがた does two things at once, and only in formal letters and visits

ご報告(ほうこく)かたがたお願(ねが)い申し上(もうしあ)げます。

Gohōkoku kata gata onegai mōshiagemasu.

I write to report and to make a request.

It appears at the close of business letters

話し言葉(はなしことば)ではまず使(つか)いません。

Hanashikotoba de wa mazu tsukaimasen.

It is scarcely ever spoken.

It is the most formal and the rarest of this set
