〜がる

妹が行きたがっています。

Imōto ga ikitagatte imasu.

My sister wants to go.

Another persons feeling is only visible from outside, hence がる

子供が恥ずかしがっています。

Kodomo ga hazukashigatte imasu.

The child is feeling shy.

がる makes a verb, so ている can mark it in progress

自分のことに使うと不自然になります。

Jibun no koto ni tsukau to fushizen ni narimasu.

Used about yourself it sounds wrong.

For your own feeling 行きたい is enough
