時代(じだい)とともに言葉(ことば)も変(か)わります。

Jidai to tomoni kotoba mo kawarimasu.

Language changes along with the times.

とともに means along with — two things moving together

家族(かぞく)とともに暮(く)らしています。

Kazoku to tomoni kurashite imasu.

I live together with my family.

The other sense is together with, more formal than plain と

年(とし)を取(と)るとともに、体力(たいりょく)が落(お)ちてきました。

Toshi o toru to tomoni, tairyoku ga ochite kimashita.

My stamina has dropped as I have aged.

On a verb it reports a change moving in step
