私(わたし)にとって大切(たいせつ)な人(ひと)です。

Watashi ni totte taisetsu na hito desu.

They are important to me.

にとって gives whose vantage it is, and an evaluation follows

学生(がくせい)にとって、この値段(ねだん)は高(たか)すぎます。

Gakusei ni totte, kono nedan wa takasugimasu.

For a student this price is too high.

The same price means different things from different positions

に対(たい)して とは違(ちが)い、後(うし)ろに動作(どうさ)は来(き)ません。

Ni taishite to wa chigai, ushiro ni dōsa wa kimasen.

Unlike に対して, no action follows it.

What follows にとって is an adjective or a judgement, not a verb
