〜末（に）

長(なが)く考(かんが)えた末(すえ)に、転職(てんしょく)を決(き)めました。

Nagaku kangaeta sue ni, tenshoku o kimemashita.

After long thought I decided to change jobs.

末に is the outcome after a process, and it may be good or bad

議論(ぎろん)の末(すえ)、結論(けつろん)が出(で)ました。

Giron no sue, ketsuron ga demashita.

After discussion a conclusion was reached.

A noun takes の, and the first term must involve elapsed time

あげく とは結果(けっか)の色(いろ)が違(ちが)います。

Ageku to wa kekka no iro ga chigaimasu.

It differs from あげく in the colour of the outcome.

末に runs neutral to positive; あげく must be bad
