んがため is an archaic in order to, heavier still than べく

勝たんがために手段を選ばない。

Katan ga tame ni shudan o erabanai.

He will stop at nothing to win.

It joins the ない-form stem, not the dictionary form

文学と歴史記述に残る形です。

Bungaku to rekishi kijutsu ni nokoru katachi desu.
