1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to WordQuest, operated by SolanaLink ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using our website at https://wordquest.solanalink.jp(the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms").

If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Service.

2. Description of Service

WordQuest is an educational platform designed for students learning Japanese for JLPT preparation. Our Service provides:

• 146 comprehensive vocabulary courses (Course あ through Course 145)
• 2,884 vocabulary words with Chinese translations
• 134 grammar patterns covering JLPT N5 and N4 levels
• 35 practice exercises including listening dialogues and reading passages
• Interactive flashcards with audio pronunciation
• Study management tools including study strategies, progress tracking, and vocabulary watchlist
• User authentication and personalized learning experiences
• Community features and social sharing capabilities

3. User Accounts

3.1 Registration

To access certain features of the Service, you may be required to create an account. You can register using:

• Email and password
• Google OAuth 2.0
• Twitter/X OAuth 2.0

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
• Maintain and promptly update your account information
• Keep your password secure and confidential
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

3.3 Account Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the Service.

4. User Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
• Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers or networks connected to the Service
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Service
• Use any automated means to access the Service without our express written permission
• Reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, or exploit any portion of the Service without permission
• Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or any malicious code
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users
• Share your account credentials with others

5. Intellectual Property

5.1 Our Content

All content on the Service, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, images, audio files, vocabulary data, grammar patterns, flashcards, and software, is the property of SolanaLink or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

5.2 Limited License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial educational purposes only.

5.3 User Content

You retain ownership of any content you create or submit through the Service (such as study notes, watchlist items, or shared achievements). By submitting content, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, modify, and display such content for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.

6. Third-Party Services

Our Service integrates with third-party services including:

• Google OAuth: For authentication and sign-in
• Twitter/X OAuth: For authentication and social sharing
• Firebase Analytics: For usage analytics and performance monitoring

Your use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of these third-party services.

7. Payment and Subscriptions

WordQuest offers a free tier and a paid subscription. Creating an account and using the core learning features — vocabulary courses, grammar, kanji, and practice tests — does not require payment. A daily allowance of AI speaking evaluations is also included at no charge.

A paid subscription additionally unlocks Story Quest chapters and their quizzes, the Tavern community (posting, commenting, cheering, tipping, and events), Squads, and unlimited AI speaking evaluations. It also includes an allowance of Neko Coin for each paid month of the subscription, subject to section 7.1 below. Trial periods do not include this allowance, and no allowance is granted for a month that was not paid for. The current amount is stated on the subscription page.

Subscriptions are offered on monthly and annual terms and renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and access to subscriber features continues until then.

Current prices, payment methods, billing timing, and cancellation and refund handling are set out on our subscription page and in our Act on Specified Commercial Transactions disclosure. Those pages govern in the event of any inconsistency with this section. Prices are stated inclusive of Japanese consumption tax where applicable.

Where you purchase a subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play, the purchase is made with that store and is additionally governed by that store’s own terms. Billing, renewal, and refunds for such purchases are handled by the store, not by us, and prices there may differ from the prices on our website. Cancel a store-based subscription through the store’s own subscription settings — deleting the app or your WordQuest account does not cancel it.

We may change prices or the composition of the free and paid tiers. We will give notice of any change before it takes effect for you, and a price change will not apply to a billing period you have already paid for.

7.1 Neko Coin has no monetary value

Neko Coin is an in-app point used solely to make learning Japanese more engaging. It is not money, not a currency, not a payment instrument, and not a store of value. It carries no monetary value whatsoever.

Neko Coin specifically cannot be:

• withdrawn, cashed out, or transferred out of WordQuest in any form;
• exchanged or redeemed for cash, cryptocurrency, goods, services, or anything else of monetary value, whether from us or from any third party;
• refunded, whether earned, granted, or received from another user.

Neko Coin may be earned through study activity, granted as a benefit of a paid subscription, given to another user within the app, and spent on in-app features. A paid subscription purchases access to that subscription’s features for its term; Neko Coin granted during the term is an included benefit, not a purchase of Neko Coin. Ending a subscription or closing an account does not entitle you to any payment for a remaining Neko Coin balance.

We may adjust Neko Coin balances, earning rates and in-app prices, and may expire unused balances where permitted by law. Because Neko Coin has no monetary value, such adjustments do not constitute a loss of money or property.

8. Privacy and Data Protection

Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

We comply with applicable data protection laws including GDPR for European users and local privacy regulations for Chinese users.

9. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

9.1 Service "As Is"

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

9.2 No Guarantee of Results

We do not guarantee that using our Service will result in passing the JLPT exam or achieving any specific level of Japanese language proficiency. Learning outcomes depend on individual effort and study habits.

9.3 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SOLANALINK SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at our sole discretion, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties, or for any other reason.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or using the account deletion feature in your profile settings. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through good faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tokyo, Japan.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

14. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and SolanaLink regarding the use of the Service and supersede any prior agreements.
