います 用于有生命的主体（人、动物），无生命的用 あります。存在的主体用 が 提示，场所用 に。
否定是 いません；要说“一个人也没有”，用 誰も 配否定。Examples:
部屋に猫がいます。
Heya ni neko ga imasu.
There is a cat in the room.
います is for living things
兄弟がいますか。
Kyōdai ga imasu ka.
Do you have any siblings?
Having family members also takes います
教室に誰もいません。
Kyōshitsu ni dare mo imasen.
There is nobody in the classroom.
The negative is いません, paired with 誰も
