〜一方（で）

利用者が増える一方で、質は落ちています。

Riyōsha ga fueru ippō de, shitsu wa ochite imasu.

Users are rising while quality falls.

一方で can set two separate things side by side

彼は厳しい一方で、面倒見がいいです。

Kare wa kibishii ippō de, mendōmi ga ii desu.

He is strict, and at the same time looks after people.

It also works on two sides of one person, where it nears 反面

増える一方だ は別の意味になります。

Fueru ippō da wa betsu no imi ni narimasu.

増える一方だ means something else entirely.

Drop the で and 増える一方だ means keeps on rising — no contrast at all
